Tragedy as hero ex-soldier killed in horror hit-and-run as he cycled home to see son on Boxing Day with two men arrested
A former soldier slain in a horrific hit-and-run on Boxing Day has received tribute.
On Saturday night, Lee Kervin, 50, was struck by a car in Ormskirk, Lancs, while he was riding his bike home to visit his son.
Following complaints that an unidentified vehicle had struck a guy riding a Cross XC Range bike along Wigan Road, Lancashire Police officers hurried to the scene.
The father, who his family described as a “chatty, social butterfly,” passed away in the early hours of December 27 after being taken to Aintree Hospital.
Lancashire Police reported that a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs and of causing death by reckless driving.
Since then, he has been freed on bond.

Since then, a second man, 58, has been taken into custody on suspicion of driving dangerously and failing to halt at the site, which resulted in death.
“Loving son of Barbara and John, and dad to son Brad,” his family stated in a tribute.
Two nieces and two nephews have me as their uncle. Lee was a quick-witted, talkative social butterfly who enjoyed a pint and chit-chatting with anyone who was pleasant.
In the community of Parbold, where he was raised alongside his siblings Allan and Dawn, he was well-known.
“Lee was always talking and lending a helpful hand, going above and above to aid whomever he could.
“Among other locations, he served his country in the Royal Green Jackets in the army in Sierra Leone and Northern Ireland.
He resigned from the service to raise Brad alone.
“He took charge of his duties and enjoyed molding Brad into the guy he is now.
Lee first resided in the Wigan region before moving back to Parbold and then Ormskirk.
Over the years, Lee held a variety of professions, from working in the kitchens of pubs to gardening.
“He was the family’s handyman, always willing to fix his family’s botched do-it-yourself projects.
“Lee had left a huge void within our small tight-knit family, and he will be greatly missed.”
