NFL teams ramp up security after New Orleans terror attack with ring of steel placed around games as tensions rise
In the wake of the New Orleans terror tragedy, NFL franchises are beginning to bolster their security.
Other towns are making sure their stadiums are safe for fans following the terrorist attack on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street.
The Arlington Police Department installed anti-vehicle barriers surrounding AT&T Stadium, according to reporter Noah Bullard.
The city will host the Cotton Bowl next week and is home to the Dallas Cowboys.
“There s a heavier police presence at AT&T Stadium for today s Commanders-Cowboys game,” Bullardposted on X.
“Anti-vehicle barriers have been installed at several locations by Arlington Police Department.

“The stadium will also host the Cotton Bowl this coming week.”
The actions taken by the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans after the terror attack seem to be being replicated at AT&T Stadium.
After the attack, the New Orleans Police Department’s presence around the stadium was greatly increased.
NOPD Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick stated, “We will have hundreds of officers and staff lining our streets.”
“We are staffing up at the same level if not more so than we were prepared for Super Bowl.”
In order to prevent cars from approaching crowds, police also blocked exit ramps throughout the stadium.
According to Kristi Coleman, the traffic anchor for Fox New Orleans, “Drivers should expect Superdome exit ramps to be closed right now.”
“Active investigation still going on in the French Quarter and heavy police presence by the dome due to today’s game.”
Rather than using anti-vehicle barriers like the APD, the NOPD used water-filled obstacles and huge vehicles to block regions.
For the Sugar Bowl, police dogs trained to sniff bombs were also present.
Though awareness is undoubtedly raised, it is impossible to predict whether the Cotton Bowl will have security measures comparable to those of the Sugar Bowl.
