Cleveland Browns to be forced into NFL Draft 2025 pick change decision after Deshaun Watson suffers major injury setback
After learning of Deshaun Watson’s untimely injury, the Cleveland Browns may decide to alter their preparations for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Watson suffered a torn Achilles tendon during a game in October, and the Browns had a terrible 3–14 record this season.
After the team qualified for the playoffs the season before, Browns general manager Andrew Berry addressed reporters on Monday regarding the team’s terrible 2024–25 season performance.
He did disclose, though, that Watson had a setback during his recuperation.
Watson’s 2025 status is currently unknown after the hiccups were discovered at his end-of-season physical.
According to Berry, Watson informed the team’s employees that he was experiencing Achilles pain.

Although it’s too soon to predict when the quarterback will return, he did say the team will know in the days and weeks ahead of time if he requires additional surgery.
According to the most recent information on Watson, the Browns may choose to select a quarterback with their second overall pick in the forthcoming draft.
Berry did assert, though, that the team’s strategy for the signal-caller position would not be altered by Watson’s setback.
It has been anticipated that Cleveland will attempt to acquire a quarterback this summer through free agency.
The NFL interceptions were led by the signal-caller room of the Browns (23).
Berry told reporters, “That room, it will look different next year,” according to ESPN.
On October 20, Watson suffered a season-ending injury while playing against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Under Watson, who threw for five touchdowns and picks and recorded an incredible 33 sacks, the Browns were 1-6 before to the injury.
Cleveland gave him a fully guaranteed $230 million contract in 2022 in exchange for three first-round selections, but he has only started 19 games since then.
Watson had surgery on his throwing shoulder last season, which kept him out of the final eight games.
He still owes the Browns $46 million for the next two seasons.
In response to a question regarding acquiring Watson, Berry stated, “To date the trade hasn’t gone as we anticipated.”
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a 2023 fifth-round pick who had a terrible season in only two starts, is the only other signal-caller signed to a deal for 2025 besides Watson.

Unrestricted free agents are Bailey Zappe and Jameis Winston, who in seven starts tossed 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Cleveland might select a quarterback from the Miami Hurricanes’ Cam Ward or the Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders with their first-round selection in April.
