Miami Dolphins in contract standoff with Tyreek Hill after his mid-game walkout that could cost him nearly $30 million
Tyreek Hill’s trade request may put the Miami Dolphins in the midst of a salary dispute.
Hill spoke off about leaving the Dolphins after they were officially eliminated from the playoffs this season.
Hill missed the playoffs for the first time in his career and suffered his first season with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards since 2019.
“At the end of the day there’s a lot of things I need to reassess for my career,” Hill stated.
“Just look at what I need to keep doing to improve as a player. so that I can keep getting to that 1,000-yard milestone. It is what it is.
That seemed to be enough to tip him over the brink, and he made it known that he wanted to fire the Dolphins.

Hill told reporters, “This is the first time I haven’t been in the playoffs.”
“I simply have to act in my family’s and my own best interests. I’m going to open that door for myself, whether it’s here or somewhere else.
“I’ll open the door now. Bro, I’m out.
“I had a terrific time playing here, but I had to do what would help my career in the end, bro.
“I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”
According to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniels, Hill even declined to participate in the second half of the season’s last game.
“I was informed that he was unavailable, right before a drive,” McDaniel stated.
“I was not informed that it was a new injury… there was guys on the field that were competing.”
If Hill declines to play, the Dolphins and the receiver may end up in some intriguing contract circumstances.
The Dolphins may be able to waive the rest of Hill’s contract guarantees, according to Mike Florio of NBC.
Hill collected almost $24 million in signing bonus and roster bonus money this season, which the Dolphins may be able to pursue in part.
With more than $29 million in guaranteed funds set aside for him, Hill is expected to earn a substantial sum of money in 2025.
These funds consist of a $10 million salary, a $1 million roster bonus, a $15.85 million option bonus, and $1.8 million in roster bonuses for each game.
Hill’s contract can be traded with or without the guarantees, but since $29 million is at stake, moving him might be difficult.

The Dolphins will probably have a difficult time getting a first-round pick back after sending one to the Chiefs for Tyreek Hill.
The Dolphins are more likely to select a second-round pick or a mix of third-round picks.
