The gruesome scene was the result of the pregnant anaconda’s belly rupturing when she was struck by a car on the highway.

The incident happened on Monday near Portodos Gauchos, central-west Brazil, on the MT-338 freeway.
A dead five-meter snake with its belly torn open, believed to be a green anaconda, is shown in the video lying lifeless in a puddle of about 40 of its young in the road.
It was obvious that the snake was very pregnant.
The footage shows the newborn snakes laying motionless close to their mother’s corpse; none of them made it out alive.
According to local media, the scene was captured on camera by a YouTuber and fisherman’s friend named Ederson Negri Antonioli.
“A friend of mine who came from Goias to go fishing with me made the video,” Antonioli told local media.
“When he was returning, he came across this unusual scene and decided to record it to send to me.”
One of the biggest snakes in the world, the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) can grow to a length of over eight meters and weigh up to 100 kg.
Anacondas are viviparous, meaning they give birth to live young, in contrast to most snakes that lay eggs.
