Chinese national charged as part of human trafficking ring using massage parlors

FOX 2.On Monday, a 60-year-old Chinese national who is suspected of being involved in a large-scale international human trafficking operation was bound over for trial.

Huazi Piao faces charges related to a scheme involving illegal massage parlors in the counties of Wayne and Macomb.

Piao, who was taken into custody last month, faces the following charges:


  • One count of Conducting a Criminal Enterprise, a 20-year felony;

  • One count of Conspiracy to Commit a Criminal Enterprise, a 20-year felony;

  • One count of Accepting Earnings from Prostitution, a 20-year felony;

  • One count of Money Laundering, a 10-year felony;

  • Two counts of Keeping a House of Prostitution, 5-year felonies.

The charges come after an investigation into a suspected international human trafficking organization was started in the summer of last year.

According to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, “far too many in our communities become victims of human trafficking and suffer from trauma that leaves lasting scars.” “I would like to thank the prosecutors in my office and our many law enforcement partners whose efforts led to the liberation of several women from the horrors they endured, and I look forward to Ms. Piao standing trial for her alleged crimes.”

On January 13, 2025, Piao will make his next appearance in the 3rd Circuit Court.

Seven to nine Chinese and Korean women were released from the purported operation, which involved the parlors in Detroit, Sterling Heights, and St. Clair Shores.

A 60-year-old man from Clinton Township named Jon Villasurda is accused of transporting women between airports and other parlors, while Jingyu Jin, a 45-year-old Chinese national, and Ming Li, a 59-year-old undocumented immigrant and American citizen, are also charged in connection with the operation.

Jingyu Jin, a 45-year-old Chinese national, is the alleged ringleader. After arriving in Michigan on Friday morning, she was taken into custody by Michigan State Police.

  • AM Healing Studio in Sterling Heights, near the intersection of Metro Parkway and Mound.
