DETROIT (FOX 2):After their west-side home was shot up three times, a Detroit family is now even more frustrated and living in dread.
“I’m scared for my kids,” Jackie Hundley remarked. “It takes me back to the first time it happened, still having to walk down to my living room and see bullet holes in my wall.”
In the late spring and early summer of last year, Hundley, her wife, and their four kids witnessed the horrific consequences and heard those sounds three times.
She claims that although authorities had a suspect in the fall, the case has now been dismissed.
“I get a call the morning of, saying the case is going to be dismissed,” she explained. “How does anybody think I should feel?”
FOX 2 was informed by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday that the case has been dismissed.
“Why is he still out, why isn t he still being detained?” she said. “I’m doing my part, why can t they do theirs?”
According to the prosecutor’s office, the dismissal was due to a lack of evidence.
The suspect, who is younger than eighteen, “… could not be identified as the shooter in this case,” according to a statement. We asked for and assessed forensic evidence. Regretfully, it did not provide evidence to identify the kid. The chief of the WCPO Juvenile Unit and an experienced assistant prosecutor decided that the case should be dismissed in these circumstances because it was the right and moral thing to do.
Hundley does not believe it.
