FOX 2, Roseville, Mich.Her ex-boyfriend, whom her family has been accusing from the beginning, was charged with lying to police on Thursday, one week after a mother vanished.

The 32-year-old De’Andre Booker is charged with lying to investigators.

Elkins’ family said in a statement that they think Elkins was murdered. Police “have strong leads on its location,” according to a family spokeswoman on Wednesday, although her corpse has not yet been found.

Prosecutors stated at the arraignment that they would worry about Elkins’ safety if Booker were released on bond if she were still alive. A $250,000 cash/surety bond was issued to him.

On Wednesday evening, a family representative issued the following statement:

“We think Ashley was murdered because of the strong evidence that was gathered at the ex-boyfriend’s house. Despite the fact that her body has not been located, investigators have solid leads. Though not being charged with murder, the boyfriend is currently being held on related charges. They are preparing a warrant for his arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Roseville District Court tomorrow at 10 a.m.

According to her relatives, Elkins’ lack of communication with her family, especially her sons, is unusual.

“She adores her children and family. Earlier this week, her sister Alexis Elkins stated, “She would never simply vanish for this many days.”
