The 32-year-old Booker is accused of lying to the police about Elkins’ disappearance.
De’Andre Booker’s search history
Booker is charged with planning to flee Michigan while in Flint by researching out-of-state routes.
According to the prosecution, he also looked into whether blood can be traced, how to evade a polygraph, and what to do while on the run.
He apparently also searched for information on how to remove his Google search history.
These searches, according to the prosecution, indicate that Booker would run away if he were freed on bond. On Thursday, a $250,000 cash/surety bond was established for him.
A week after Ashley Elkins vanished, her ex-boyfriend, De’Andre Booker, was charged with lying to the police. When questioned about the missing mother of two, Booker is accused of lying about where he was.
Who is Ashley Elkins?
Elkins is a 30-year-old from. She has two boys and works as a hairstylist.
On January 2, she left the house to perform some errands. She contacted a family member that same day to let them know she was going home from a beauty shop.
Her family stated that she would never do that to her sons and that it is unusual for her to disappear without communication.
“She adores her children and family. Alexis Elkins, her sister, stated that she would never simply vanish for this long.
When Ashley Elkins, 30, went out to perform some errands on January 2, she vanished.
Why was De’Andre Booker arrested?
Since Booker vanished a week ago, Elkins’ family had been wary of her.
After Elkins was reported, Booker was contacted by the police. Elkins’ car was discovered abandoned about two miles distant on Tuesday, prompting a search of his apartment at Gratiot and Frazho. At the apartment, her phone last ping.
A dumpster was removed by police as evidence during that search.
The car belonging to Ashley Elkins was located in Roseville on Tuesday. Since January 2, the mother of two has gone missing.
In a statement, Elkins’ family stated, “We believe Ashley was murdered because of the substantial evidence that was gathered at the ex-boyfriend’s house.”
Booker was taken into custody in Flint on Wednesday.
He allegedly misled police regarding Elkins’ car and his whereabouts. Video evidence, according to authorities, proved that he lied.
Who is De’Andre Booker?
Based on the evidence that was given in court, Booker does not currently have a job.
After going missing in 2017, Booker, who had previously served in the US Army, was discharged with a less than honorable discharge. This occurred after he was accused of a number of crimes while in service the previous year, including larceny and possession of forged identification documents.
What’s next?
Before a preliminary examination on January 29, Booker is scheduled to return to court on January 22 for a probable cause conference.
Police are still looking for Elkins in the interim.
Her family claims that they think she has passed away.
“Although her body has not been found, investigators have strong leads on its location,” the statement added on Wednesday.
