Smith instructed her team to move to the opposite side of the pond so they could have better access to the car.
According to Sgt. Ryan Bates, he stripped off his equipment and entered the chilly water while clinging to a rope that was secured by law enforcement personnel on and close to the coast.
With the rope drawing them in, Bates swam back to shore after the driver had left, placing the life jacket beneath his arm.
After receiving treatment, the motorist is doing well, according to Bates. He praised his group for having faith in each other to save the man’s life.
How and why the car was in the water is still being investigated.
In addition to his team’s cooperation, Bates acknowledges that each of their police cars is equipped with a life jacket and rope.
