Black Bart dead at 76: WWE legend dies just days after stopping chemotherapy following cancer battle

Following a fight with cancer, former WWE performer Black Bart passed away at the age of 76.

Since 2022, the wrestler, whose actual name is Richard Harris, has been battling the fatal illness.

Unfortunately, after his insurance ran out, Harris was forced to quit the chemotherapy he was receiving to extend his life.

And he tragically lost his life to the cancer.

His wife, Linda, tragically announced Harris’s death.

“You may know him as Black Bart, but to me he was my husband Ricky,” she said on his Facebook page. He departed this morning.

“He was pronounced this morning at 5:26. He is peacefully resting.

Harris’s pupil John Layfield was among the many tributes that flowed in for the late Harris.

“Black Bart taught me how to be a professional wrestler and took me under his wing,” JBL wrote on X.

“We were Texas tag champions, but we were also simply friends.

“We sat in the dressing room together, laughing about everything and watching Bart spit in his trashcan.

“To me, Bart was everything. Big brother, you are loved. Rest in peace.

Leilani Kai, a former WWE star, wrote: “Black Bart died today.

“His family and friends are in my prayers and thoughts. He was a decent man.

Dustin Rhodes, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty, stated: “When I was younger, Black Bart taught me a lot.

“Deadly loved him. We shall miss him.

Harris started wrestling in 1975 and participated in a number of promotions.

He had stints with the WCW, ECW, and AllJapanPro Wrestling in addition to his year with the WWE.
