Denmark demands crunch talks with Trump on Greenland after he dispatched Don Jr to island to recruit local MAGA fans

Following Donald Trump’s failure to rule out military involvement to annex Greenland, Denmark has demanded discussions with the future US president.

After landing in the Danish territory and allegedly bribing local homeless people to be MAGA fans, the president-elect’s son caused a stir.

Trump’s ambitions to annex Greenland in order to defend “national security and freedom” around the world rocked the EU.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen criticized the president-elect’s proposal earlier this week, giving it a significant blowback.

She stated on Tuesday that the Dane had made it apparent that Greenland was not for sale.

Frederiksen continued: “There is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be in the future either.”

The prime minister then disclosed on Thursday that she had contacted Trump and offered to discuss the unexpected move, but that they had not yet spoken.

Trump’s land grab comments are being taken seriously, she said, but she also added, “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.”

“We have suggested that we have a conversation,” Frederiksen stated. Nothing significant, in my opinion, will occur until the chosen president is sworn in.

She reaffirmed her conviction that Trump would not try to seize the Arctic island by force, even though the Dane wanted to have discussions.

She continued: “We have no reason to believe that would happen.”

TOUCHDOWN

Even though the president-elect has merely hinted at the concept, some people were awakened by his son’s trip to the ice island.

Don Jr. was seen walking across the snowy tarmac of the airport after arriving in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, on Tuesday.

The son of the incoming president reportedly purchased food for homeless residents who support MAGA during his brief visit.

Don Jr. reposted an image on X that seemed to depict individuals at the Hotel Hans Egede standing with Trump’s son while sporting red MAGA caps.

According to DR, some of these individuals were allegedly homeless Nuuk residents who sometimes end up outside a grocery across from the hotel.

“It’s homeless and elderly people who are struggling to make ends meet who can suddenly eat at a restaurant they’ve never been to before,” said local Tom Amtoft.

They only need to wear a headgear and appear in films taken by the Trump administration. It is quite disgusting that they are being bribed.

Don Jr.’s visit was an unofficial one that lasted only a few hours and included no official discussions, according to Greenland’s foreign affairs department.

Despite this, Trump couldn’t help but post a positive Truth Social to hype up his boy’s visit.

“I’ve heard that the people of Greenland are MAGA,” he wrote.

Don Jr., my son, and a few other representatives will be going there to see some of the most amazing places and landmarks.

If and when Greenland joins our country, the people will greatly profit from this amazing place.

We shall adore it and keep it safe from the harsh outside world. RESTORE GREATNESS TO GREENLAND!

DIVIDED LOCALS

Greenlanders appear to be divided, despite the Danish government’s determination to oppose Trump’s proposals.

Some residents have taken to the American’s notion, such as the admirers who seem to wear MAGA hats.

During World War Two, the US had previously controlled Greenland, and the Nazis had previously occupied Denmark.

A local told the Guardian: “The hatred for Denmark has never been higher [in some parts of the population], and the gratitude for the US during the second world war and the cold war in terms of military [protection] has never been higher as well.”

Other locals were adamantly opposed to any Trump takeover.

“Our country is ours, it’s not for sale,” a resident stated.

“Trump says a lot of things that aren t very serious, but now it s become quite scary.”

“I fear our culture and traditions, which we hold in the highest regard, would be taken away from us,” remarked another.
