FOX 2.Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson are at the center of the raging pro football coaching circus.
According to published sources, Johnson and Glenn have already conducted interviews for available coaching positions and have more set for this weekend.
On Friday, the Patriots declared that Johnson had finished the interview process for their open head coaching post. The New Orleans Saints interviewed Glenn today.
In the next few days, Johnson will have interviews with three more teams. He has interviews with the Jaguars and Bears on Saturday after speaking with the Raiders today.
Glenn is set to speak with the Jaguars in the coming days after previously doing an interview with the New York Jets.
The Raiders, Bears, and Patriots are among the other teams that have asked to speak with Glenn.
The Lions’ first-round bye this week gives both coordinators the advantage of having no game to prepare for this weekend.
This fact was brought up by Lions coach Dan Campbell during the media meeting on Tuesday. He raised Glenn’s reputation as a head coach contender while complimenting the defensive effort against the Vikings in Week 18.
“Aaron Glenn is as good a coach as you’re going to find and he’s an even better human being,” Campbell stated. “Look, I’ll take him again if no one else wants him. It’s absurd to consider going through another cycle without him serving as someone’s head coach.
“I don’t want to lose him but I root for him because he’s a hell of a coach.”
