Metro Detroit weather: More cold, more snow this week

temperatures dropping all day long, with wind chills in the teens. The outlook for today is completed by sporadic snow showers. Tuesday will be much colder, but by the weekend, the temperature will rise again. Lori Pinson, a meteorologist, has your prediction.

DETROIT (FOX 2):Prepare yourself for yet another chilly day. Our initial readings are often low, and as the day goes on, the temperature rises. Things will be different on Monday.

We know:

This morning’s temperatures were close to freezing, and this afternoon they will continue to drop into the 20s. Wind conditions will be strong, with gusts of 15 to 20 mph coming from the southwest, and wind chill values will follow suit.

Tuesday will also see the influx of cooler air. Tomorrow’s high will only be close to 19 degrees. As the weekend draws near, temperatures will once more moderate, with highs rising back into the mid-30s.

Many of us got between two and four inches of snow over the weekend. Our monthly snow totals currently stand at 4.9″, which is still a -.2″ shortfall.

Expect sporadic snow showers today.

Next steps:

Tuesday and Thursday are expected to see more light snowfall.

In addition to the snow that has already fallen over the weekend, Metro Detroit is expected to receive an additional inch of snow between Monday morning and Tuesday evening.

By Saturday, when temperatures are expected to be milder, there may be some mixing of snow and rain.
