NFL Pro Bowler who has earned $36 million in career axed from roster for fourth time this NFL season

This season, an NFL great wide receiver has already been cut for the fourth time.

On Tuesday, the former NFL Pro Bowl player’s news was made public.

Wide receiver Diontae Johnson was cut by the Houston Texans, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

As the NFL club gets ready to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the choice was made.

Johnson was clearly furious in the locker room following the Texans’ victory against the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card game.

The 28-year-old only participated in 15 of Houston’s offensive snaps and concluded with a single reception for 12 yards.

During his two games with the Texans, Johnson only managed three receptions for 24 yards.

The 2024 season has undoubtedly been turbulent for the 2019 first-round pick.

Johnson was traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Carolina Panthers prior to the season, where he caught 30 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns.

He was traded to the Baltimore Ravens prior to the trade deadline and was greatly dissatisfied by the team coached by John Harbaugh.

In 39 Ravens snaps, Johnson only caught one ball for six yards.

On December 1, Johnson declined to play in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and the team suspended him for one game.

On December 20, Johnson was waived by Baltimore, and three days later, he was signed by the Texans.

Johnson was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

In that season, he caught 107 passes and scored a career-high eight touchdowns, recording his only 1,000-yard season.

Johnson signed a two-year, $36.7 million contract extension following that campaign.

In 2022, Johnson recorded a team-high 86 receptions for 882 yards, although he did not score any touchdowns.

In exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson and the No. 178 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which Pittsburgh used to select Iowa defensive tackle Logan Lee, the Steelers traded Johnson to the Panthers.

Johnson has been released by four NFL teams since that deal.
