Chicago Sky risk Angel Reese wrath after surprise decision on teammate who clashed with Caitlin Clark

According to sources, the Chicago Sky have decided not to extend their contract offer to Chennedy Carter.

For the Skylast season, 26-year-old Carter scored 17.5 points per game on average.

Carter notably got into a fight with teammate Angel Reese’s longtime opponent Caitlin Clark during the Sky’s game against the Indiana Fever last year.

Carter appeared to say “yo b****” as he bodychecked the budding superstar to the ground.

General manager Jeff Pagliocca reportedly decided not to try to extend the guard’s contract, even though she was a key member of Chicago’s team the previous season.

However, Pagliocca has extended offers to three restricted free agents: Nikolina Milic, Michaela Onyenwere, and Dana Evans.

Carter fervently supported Reese’s Rookie of the Year argument last August.

“Barbie’s Rookie of the Year,” she said. It can’t be expressed any other way.

“Regardless of the squad we’re up against, she goes out and completes her work every night. Without a doubt, Barbie’s Rookie of the Year.

A horrific wrist injury sustained against the Los Angeles Sparks was the catalyst for Reese’s ROTY complaint.

She missed the final six games of the season due to a fractured wrist, and Clark won ROTY with 66 of 67 votes, while Reese took home the other award.

The Sky missed the playoffs with a 13-27 record.

Chicago has fired Reese allies before, including Carter.

Teresa Weatherspoon, the popular head coach, was fired by the Sky at the end of the previous season.

“I’m heartbroken,” Reese posted on social media after Weatherspoon’s departure. Knowing how much this woman meant to me at such a crucial juncture in my life has left me speechless.

“The only person who had faith in me was her. The person who had faith in me. Many people aren’t even aware of what it’s like to be a Black woman in athletics and have no support. Your work was difficult.

‘I CAME TO CHICAGO BECAUSE OF YOU’

“Despite all of the strange situations we faced this year, you never wavered in your belief even when things seemed hopeless.

“You are the reason I traveled to Chicago. In my life, you were an unsung hero. In a short period of time, we developed a relationship that will endure forever.

“I’ve always thought that everyone is in your life for a reason and a season, but I’ll never ask God why he brings people into my life and removes them when I need them.

“The greatest season and cause was you. Although you didn’t deserve it, you have my sincere gratitude. Tspoon, you have my affection.
