We know:
DETROIT (FOX 2):Two guys who shared a video of themselves pointing guns at a cruiser while driving on social media have been taken into custody by Detroit police.
Assistant Chief Charles Fitzgerald described the event as “disturbing,” but said the Instagram video helped them identify both individuals and collect many firearms.
“You want to play stupid games, you win stupid prizes, but you brought us to you by posting this,” he stated on Tuesday.
The ages of the two suspects are 19.
Fitzgerald, who has over 30 years of departmental experience, attributed the arrest to the efforts of the DPD real-time crime center staff.

In addition to resulting in an arrest, the social media post also caused a break in another case.
The two suspects in this case were also implicated in a nonfatal shooting in 2024, according to Charles Fitzgerald.
Clothes that both suspects were wearing at the time of the shooting were discovered by police on Tuesday when they carried out a search warrant at their residence.
Fitzgerald remarked, “We were working that a long time,” “Wasn’t until this video (that) we could connect the two.”
Although a third person was also arrested, they were eventually freed without being charged. Fitzgerald anticipates learning more about that case in the future.
