Ashley Elkins search: Authorities continue to focus on Macomb County landfill

On Wednesday, workers will keep searching through garbage at a dump in Macomb County for any hints that could lead police to Ashley Elkins’ whereabouts. For nearly two weeks, the Warren mother of two has been missing.

FOX 2: MACOMB COUNTY, MIAs they continue to look for any information that could point them to Ashley Elkins, police are anticipated to return on Wednesday.

Since January 2, Elkins, 30, has not been contacted.

Investigators have been searching Pine Tree Acres in Lenox Township, where they have been focusing on a roughly six-acre portion of the dump since Monday, as well as her ex-boyfriend De’Andre Booker’s Roseville apartment.

“She adores her children and family. Alexis Elkins, her sister, stated that she would never simply vanish for this long.

Why police are searching a landfill

Since Booker vanished, Elkins’ family has had suspicions about her.

Police spent six hours on Monday at Pine Tree Acres, a landfill in Macomb County, as part of their search for Ashley Elkins, 30, who was missing. In their search for the missing Warren woman, they combed through the debris, paying particular attention to a six-acre section of the landfill.

Booker’s flat was where Elkins’ phone last pinging.

Ex-boyfriend faces charges

Booker was accused of lying to police last week. He was arrested in Flint after police searched his flat, leading to those charges.

Authorities claim that… He was accused of lying about his location.

Booker’s internet searches following Elkins’ disappearance, according to the prosecutor who appeared in court for Booker’s arraignment, indicate that he was preparing to leave Michigan.

De’Andre Booker reportedly ran away to Flint after his ex-girlfriend Ashley Elkins vanished, where he looked for the quickest ways to go to Ohio.

Booker is charged with planning to flee Michigan while in Flint by researching out-of-state routes.

According to the prosecution, he also looked into whether blood can be traced, how to evade a polygraph, and what to do while on the run.

He apparently also searched for information on how to remove his Google search history.

These searches, according to the prosecution, indicate that Booker would run away if he were freed on bond. $250,000 cash or surety was the amount of his bond.

Next steps:

Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido stated that even if investigators are unable to locate Elkins’ body, they may still file additional charges while they search for evidence.

“Now, he’s only been charged with one item – not murder,” added Lucido. “You can accuse someone with murder without necessarily having a body present. There might be additional data and proof.

Booker is now being held at the Macomb County Jail while he awaits a preliminary examination on January 29 and a probable cause conference on January 22.

Who is De’Andre Booker?

Booker, 32, resides in Roseville close to Gratiot and Frazho.

Based on the evidence that was given in court, Booker does not currently have a job.

A week after Ashley Elkins vanished, her ex-boyfriend, De’Andre Booker, was charged with lying to the police. When questioned about the missing mother of two, Booker is accused of lying about where he was.
