(FOX 2) LAPEER COUNTY, MIA man won $1 million after playing the Powerball for ten years.
Dryden resident Robert Benaglio used a ticket he purchased at a BP gas station in Metamora to match the five white balls in the Michigan lottery drawing on December 23.
“I have bought a Powerball ticket for one drawing each week for 10 years,” stated Benaglio. “I didn’t realize I was a huge winner until I scanned the ticket on New Year’s Eve, even though I had won the reward shortly before Christmas. The experience of learning that you have won $1 million is best described by the word “shocking.” I’m only now beginning to believe that this is true, and I feel like it’s now starting to strike me.”
Benaglio stated that he would keep purchasing a weekly Powerball ticket even after winning.
“I get $2 worth of daydreaming out of it each week, so why not?” he replied.
Benaglio stated that he would take a trip and pay off his cars with the money he received as a prize. The remaining funds will be saved by him.
