FOX 2: MACOMB COUNTY, MIDays of testimony later, a jury came to a decision.
After shooting and killing his wife on October 19, 2023, 31-year-old Steven Bryce Wheeler was found guilty on Thursday of first-degree murder and felony firearms.
The backstory
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office claims that Wheeler and his wife got into a heated argument. She then called 911 to report that she had been assaulted and to request the arrival of police.
Authorities claim that Wheeler killed her by shooting her several times while she was speaking with 911.
Pete Lucido, the prosecutor for Macomb County, stated, “This conviction brings justice for a tragic and senseless act of violence.” “Domestic violence not only takes one life, but it also leaves everyone involved—especially children who are deprived of their innocence—with severe and permanent wounds. No community should have to deal with such a loss, and no child should have to go through such anguish.”
Next steps:
Wheeler’s sentencing is set for February 26.
