Six injured after Boeing passenger jet PLUNGES in mid-air minutes after take-off from Nigeria on route to Washington

A United Airlines flight from Nigeria was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering an unexpected, violent shock in midair, injuring six people.

The airline said that a technical problem and an unforeseen aircraft movement on Friday caused flight 613, which was headed for Washington, DC, to be rerouted back to Lagos.

Late Thursday night, the Boeing 787-8, carrying 3 pilots, 8 flight attendants, and 245 passengers, took off.

CNN reported that 93 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft suddenly descended from cruising altitude based on FlightRadar24 data.

According to passenger-reported footage, the airplane was in disarray, with food, trays, and personal belongings all over the place.

A representative for United Airlines stated: “[The flight] landed safely in Lagos and four passengers and two flight attendants were seen at a hospital for minor injuries and have been released.”

Although the reason for the abrupt movement is unknown, United stated that they are collaborating with Nigerian and American aviation authorities to determine the reasons.
