Isaiah Thomas targets another surprise NBA return as he joins G League team at age of 35
In pursuit of another NBA call-up, Ishmael Thomas has rejoined the G League.
Despite turning 36 next week, the 5′ 9″ point guard is still determined to play more NBA minutes.
In 2017, Thomas, a two-time All-Star, led the Boston Celtics to fifth place in the MVP voting.
However, he has bounced around the league and has had trouble finding minutes in the years since due to a significant hip injury.
He has since played for seven more clubs since being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017.
After a stellar season in the G League, he was called up by the Phoenix Suns on two 10-day contracts and signed till the conclusion of the season after being out of the league for 23 months.

Thomas earned his NBA comeback last season by averaging 32.5 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in four games for the Stars.
In those games, he also had a 44.6% three-point shooting percentage.
His wish to return to the league was met with significant criticism.
One person said, “He needs to retire.”
“Man, he needs to give it up,” observed another.
However, fans’ reactions to the news and his will to continue were overwhelmingly favorable.
One person wrote: “IT, keep going.
“No one should tell anyone to stop chasing after their dreams.”
Then someone else said, “Never underestimate the power of persistence.”
Another commented: “Love this guy’s resilience and determination to keep playing” .
New rights deal
Three networks and the NBA inked an 11-year agreement for the league’s rights starting in 2025–2026.
Additionally, for the first time since the network’s 1988 debut, TNT will not be hosting any games.
ESPN and ABC will continue to broadcast the league’s 80 regular-season games, according to The Walt Disney Company.
The NBA Finals will continue to be held there, along with about 18 playoff games from the first and second rounds and a Conference Finals series for ten of the eleven years.
For the first time since 2002, NBC will broadcast the NBA again.
Up to 100 games will be broadcast on the network’s channels and Peacock streaming service each season.
In addition, it will host NBA All-Star games and include about 28 first- and second-round playoff games.
NBC will alternate with upstart broadcaster Amazon Prime to telecast one Conference Finals Series for six of the eleven years.
66 NBA regular-season games, including one on Black Friday, will be available on Amazon.
The complete Play-In Tournament and the final stages of the NBA Cup are also available on the streaming service.
Additionally, about one-third of the first- and second-round playoff games will be televised on Prime.
“Wonderful,” one said. I hope he has another opportunity to play in the NBA.
Thomas then shared his own opinions on social media.
