Sheriff: The killer or killers seem to have known precisely who they were pursuing.

Winter Springs, Florida – At a press conference on Friday, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma announced the discovery of a body in the wake of the carjacking and kidnapping of a Homestead lady in Central Florida on Thursday.

Lemma reported that although further testing is required, police think the body to be that of 31-year-old Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias, a Dominican Republic native. The body was discovered inside a burning car at a construction site close to Boggy Creek Road in Osceola County.

Just before six o’clock on Thursday at the intersection of East Lake Drive and Tuskawilla Road in Winter Springs, a witness allegedly recorded the carjacking on camera with a cellphone.

In the footage, Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias, who was operating a white Dodge Durango, is seen being threatened by an armed man dressed in a black sweatshirt and what looks to be a Halloween mask.

According to the authorities, the Durango had a phone number visible on the rear window and a “for sale” sign attached.

Lemma reported that the spouse instructed Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias not to stop the car, but that neither the spouse nor the woman made 911 contact.

The carjacker allegedly gave Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias the instruction to drive to the construction site in Osceola County, where witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing flames, according to the sheriff.

When authorities got there, they discovered a body inside a burning car. Investigators think Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias’s body is that of the Durango, which is burnt.

According to the sheriff, there were also twelve shot casings and one projectile at the scene.

Lemma reported that police had spoken with the husband of Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias, who stated that she had traveled to Seminole County to see family.

Lemma, on the other hand, stated that they have not been successful in locating any blood relations nearby.

The victim had been in Seminole County for less than an hour before the carjacking, according to the sheriff, and had departed South Florida at midday.

He stated that although the murderer’s motivation is still unknown, investigators think the victims were not randomly chosen and that the assassins knew exactly who they were targeting.

Lemma said that although there is still a lot of unresolved information, the victim’s husband is assisting with the inquiry and neither he nor Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias have a criminal record in the United States.

It has come to the attention of Local 10 News that Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias is employed as a nail technician at the Dominican Beauty Room Salon & Spa located in Homestead, while her spouse is a barber.
