FOX 2, Holly, Mich.After an instructor suffered a severe fall from a ski lift at Mt. Holly Ski Resort on Wednesday, a group of kids’ enjoyable day of skiing turned into a panic attack.

Following the strange mishap, the teacher from a Hamtramck school is recuperating. According to FOX 2, the teacher should be alright.

Terry Christensen, another educator, was escorting a group of students from Frontier International Academy in Hamtramck on a field trip. He claims that he hurried to the spot.

“On one of the intermediate courses, I was climbing the middle lift when I noticed the ski patrol on the hill below. I responded, “Well, since they’re on beginner passes, it can’t be any of my students,” he added. “I hope it’s not her,” I was thinking. I’m hoping it’s not her. She was receiving assistance from several individuals when I passed her directly.

The ski patrol then informed him that his chaperon and fellow teacher had fallen 20 feet from the ski lift.

“At first it was a little bit of a shock but once I talked them down and said listen, it s a freak accident,” he explained. “This is where things happen. You simply must always be careful. Anything is possible. Something could happen at any time, even if you believe you are paying attention and everything is fine.

As soon as they got the call, the Groveland Township Fire Department showed up on the site. Michigan State Police assisted them in treating the woman.

She was admitted to the hospital, according to officials, with possibly serious traumatic injuries. Christensen adds that having her mother by her side has helped her recover, which has provided some respite for the boys.

“They knew that she was getting the care she needed, and they were able to have a lot of fun still,” he stated. “The trip was a success. Unfortunate things do happen. I hope she gets well soon.

Throughout the incident, Mt. Holly stayed open.
