Kevin Durant make surprise Phoenix Suns NBA trade decision just days before deadline

Prior to the trade deadline, Kevin Durant made an unexpected choice on his NBA future.

NBA teams have till today at 3 p.m. ET to finalize their agreements.

And Durant has been one of the most prominent names connected to a relocation.

There were rumors that the four-time Olympic gold champion, who won in Paris in 2024, was going to quit the Phoenix Suns.

There was also the possibility of a comeback to the Golden State Warriors.

The 36-year-old Durant won two NBA titles while playing for the Warriors from 2016 to 2019.

As of right now, the Suns and Warriors are both 25-25 in the NBA Western Conference.

Crucially, though, Durant would reunite with Stephen Curry upon returning to Golden State.

In an attempt to reassemble the Paris 2024 class of superstars, there was even outlandish speculation that the Warriors would approach LeBron James as well.

As their top aim, Golden State and manager Steve Kerr appeared keen to entice KD back to the Chase Center.

However, it appears that the affections are not reciprocated.

Durant is said to have “no desire” to make the emotional return instead.

Chris Haynes, a basketball writer, told NBA TV: “Durant’s departure doesn’t appear to be that way.

“Kevin Durant is here to stay.

“The Suns feel very optimistic now some of the players’ futures are sorted in the short term and they can go into the second half with improved play.”

Additionally, Durant might end up joining the Miami Heat.

However, it would only have been feasible if Jimmy Butler had gone the opposite way, and Miami’s goal in making the move was to connect the two.

Durant’s Suns contract, which has a $54.7 million cap charge, comes up in one year.

This season, the seasoned legend is shooting 52.4% and averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.
