Covington Academy of Heritage Trades accepting registration spring seminars beginning in March
Are you prepared to acquire highly sought-after abilities that may pave the way for a career in historic restoration? Spring seminars at the Covington Academy of Heritage Trades are currently accepting applications.
In addition to providing training in the skills and knowledge required to restore ancient homes and buildings to their former splendor, the Covington Academy of Heritage Trades (CAHT) serves as a springboard for a field that is experiencing an increase in demand for qualified workers.
The Academy will host three two-week seminars in three different fields starting in March:
Plastering and historic masonry, March 17–27.Repairing stained glass windows, April 14–24.May 19–30: Historic Carpentry.
Classes will take place at the Enzweiler Building Institute Covington Campus, located at 3923 Winston Ave., Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. Each class costs $400, with a $100 deposit required at the time of registration. All materials are included in the course cost.
The Covington Academy of Heritage Trades website is where online applications are accepted.
The seminars are an excellent beginning to a new profession, according to Brian Miller, executive vice president of the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky (BIANKY).
According to Miller, anyone wishing to gain specific skills in historic renovation should take advantage of the Covington Academy of Heritage Trades’ spring seminars.
According to him, students who have attended previous seminars frequently compliment the program on its practical instruction and the assurance it provides them to work on historic buildings with accuracy and reverence for their heritage. Not only are these abilities rare, they are also in high demand. The average salary for professionals in the historic restoration environment is 9% higher than that of professionals in the larger construction sector. By developing these skills, professionals and tradespeople can access a rising market with substantial economic potential in addition to gaining more experience.
The CAHT’s living lab, which serves as the main location for experiential learning activities, is a historic building on Madison Avenue in Covington. Students collaborate with talented artisans who have devoted their professional lives to becoming experts in their field.
The Enzweiler Trade Building Institute, a trade school established by BIANKY that has long provided apprenticeship-style training in skilled construction crafts, oversees the administration of the City-sponsored Academy. Enrollment for the CAHT 2025–2026 academic year is currently open. The first two-year certificate program using the Heritage Trades curriculum will begin this September.
