Chicago Police Launch Manhunt for Suspect In Officer Luis Huesca’s Killing – WATCH

DEBARYLIFE – To identify a suspect in the April 20 murder of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca, a manhunt is in progress.

Xavier Tate Jr., 22, is accused of first-degree murder, according to the police, although no arrests have been made as of yet.

The Chicago Police Department offered a $100,000 reward over the weekend for information leading to Tate’s apprehension.

Records indicate that in March of last year, Tate was charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to a home in Olympia Fields. The case is still open.

Authorities reported that Huesca was ambushed while traveling a few blocks from the gunshot scene to his apartment from work. When he was shot several times, he was still in his uniform.

His SUV was reported stolen, but it was later found close by. There was no sign of his gun or badge at the site.

The officer will have a public visitation on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn.
