Fatal Shooting Incident Under Investigation By Police In Northwest Indiana
PORTAGE, Indiana — A man was discovered shot to death at a Portage residence early on Monday morning, according to authorities in Northwest Indiana. A homicide investigation is currently underway.
Just after 12:30 a.m., Portage police were dispatched to the 5300 block of Aspen Avenue in response to a complaint of gunfire in the vicinity.
When the police came, they discovered a man inside the house who appeared to have been shot. The victim was given attempts at life support by the authorities, but he eventually passed away from his wounds.
Police say they have identified a person of interest in connection with the fatal gunshot that prompted the inquiry.
The person of interest has not been located by police, nor have they given any updates on their search.
Authorities stated that they do not feel there is a current threat to the neighborhood and that the shooting seems to be an isolated event.

Although the cause of the fatal shooting is now unknown, an investigation is currently being conducted.
The victim, who is thought to be a guy from Hammond, Indiana, will be identified once his family has been notified by the coroner’s office, according to the police.
