“INNOCENT OR GUILTY?” Dentist Accused of Murdering Wife – Did He Try to Cover His Tracks With Fake Notes?

According to investigators, a dentist accused of killing his wife by putting poison in her protein shakes urged a fellow jail inmate to plant letters to make it appear as if his wife had committed herself.

James Craig requested that the convict place the notes in Craig’s garage and truck at his home, Aurora police investigator Bobbi Olson testified Wednesday at a court hearing on Craig’s new claim, according to KMGH-TV. According to Olson, the case’s main detective, the inmate believed the letters were written by Craig but were intended to look to be written by his wife, Angela Craig.

Angela Craig, a 43-year-old mother of six who had been married to her husband for 23 years, died in March 2023 from cyanide and tetrahydrozoline poisoning, the latter of which is found in over-the-counter eye drops, according to the coroner.

Craig is accused of purchasing poisons online shortly before his wife began experiencing symptoms that doctors were unable to diagnose. However, his lawyers have claimed that there is no concrete evidence that he placed poison in his wife’s shakes and have accused Olson of bias against him.

According to Olson, Craig offered money to pay the inmate’s bond or free dental treatment in exchange for planting the letters, but the inmate declined, the detective testified.

Instead, the inmate phoned law enforcement, she added. The defense claimed that the inmate was not a reliable witness.

Andrew Ho, one of Craig’s lawyers, stated that the convict first contacted authorities after an initial hearing to evaluate the evidence in the case last summer, which was widely covered by the media, and that the inmate was unable to identify the color of Craig’s truck. However, a judge decided that prosecutors had presented sufficient evidence for Craig to be tried on a new charge of solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence filed last month against the inmate. The inmate’s identity was redacted from the paper.

Craig was already charged with first-degree murder, as well as solicitation to tamper with physical evidence. He pled not guilty to the two accusations in November 2023.

Craig will be scheduled to appear for trial on August 8.
