Homestead Couple Arrested For Alleged Murder Of 6-Month-Old Baby Girl, According To Sources
HOMESTEAD, Florida — When the six-months-old’s parents, both 24 years old, brought him to Homestead Hospital on Sunday afternoon in cardiac arrest, the infant’s condition was discovered by medical professionals to be gravely maltreated, with no pulse.
In less than an hour, Nalani Adalee Allen was declared dead by the doctors.
Following an investigation, her parents, Homestead residents Nathan Richard Allen and Arnelle Arnelia Floyd, were taken into custody by Miami-Dade police on Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The infant girl had numerous bruises all over her torso and “several fractured ribs in different stages of healing,” according to the police.
Her torso had “many fresh contusions, internal bleeding, large lacerations to internal organs and blunt force injuries,” according to the report of her autopsy on Tuesday.
Nalani’s cause of death was determined to be a homicide by an associate medical examiner.
According to the complaint, Allen and Floyd informed Miami-Dade investigators during Nalani’s initial questioning on Sunday that the young woman had been well and had no prior medical history. Floyd denied knowing the cause of her death, according to the police.
Floyd stated that she fed Nalani that evening at about ten o’clock before putting her to bed with her and Allen, per the report. She claimed that after leaving for a beauty appointment at eight in the morning, she got a call from Allen about the baby’s health at roughly ten-forty-five.
The report says, “Floyd stated she went back home and saw Allen leaving their house with the unconscious victim.” “Floyd said they went to the emergency room after that.”
Allen reportedly admitted to authorities that he fed the child at roughly ten in the morning, went to wash the dishes, and came back an hour later to discover the child “lethargic.”
Allen informed investigators that Nalani was healthy but “would often cry for long periods,” according to the report.
The residence in the 600 block of Northeast 21st Avenue was found to be in disorder, with many fist-sized holes in the walls and dents in the refrigerator door that appeared to be the size of a first, according to police who carried out the search warrant.
According to the investigation, there have been multiple reports of domestic violence at the residence, which have been verified by neighboring accounts.
Police noted that the disputes were “described as violent with objects and/or persons being thrown into walls around the residence.”
The infant was last examined by her pediatrician on Friday, according to police, who reported that despite being underweight, the child “did not show any signs of bruising or broken bones.”
On Wednesday, homicide investigators detained Allen and Floyd after they claimed they had the right to remain silent.
As of Thursday afternoon, both were being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
