Community Rallies! GoFundMe Launched For 26-Year-Old Killed At Car Meet
District Heights, Maryland – In the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike, there is a shopping mall. On May 19, 2024, at around 1:45 am, police were called to the parking lot. Shotgun wounds were discovered on Waldorf resident John Phipps, 26, who was inside a vehicle.
Shortly afterward, a hospital declared Phipps dead. To support his family during this trying time, a GoFundMe page has now been established.
To determine the motivation and suspect(s), investigators are presently at work. If information in this case results in an arrest and indictment, there is a prize of up to $25,000.
“Police enforcement in our area and throughout the nation are extremely concerned about these car meets.” A department’s planning and resource allocation to either disperse or prevent a gathering is based on particular, credible intelligence that is brought to their attention. Chief Malik Aziz added, “Further inquiries are carried out, and prosecutions are brought against those who violate any laws.”
“These meetings can degenerate into violence, as this instance demonstrates. Nobody should be hurt or murdered, in our opinion. To make these car meets’ laws and penalties stronger, the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) has collaborated with legislators and will keep doing so.

At the time of this post, the GoFundMe had already generated over $2,600. It states that Phipps was a co-founder of the Hallow Squad Car Club and had an unrivaled commitment to the automotive community.
According to what was said on the GoFundMe page, “John was more than just an enthusiast; he was a beacon of warmth and kindness, a gentle giant who touched the lives of everyone he encountered.”
“Pink was his favorite color, which was a testament to his vibrant personality. His infectious spirit and love for life knew no bounds.”
With funeral and burial arrangements, the campaign will support Phipps’ family.
Whatever your size of donation, it will have a real impact on enabling John’s loved ones to bid him a respectful and dignified farewell.
To celebrate John’s memory and give comfort to his surviving family, let us come together as a community, as he would have desired, according to the GoFundMe page.
