Remembering Memorial Day 2019: The Hannah Family’s Tornado Tragedy
It has been nearly five years since 15 tornadoes tore through the Miami Valley, and News Centre 7 monitored those twisters on Memorial Day 2019, a day that profoundly affected numerous lives.
This was particularly true for the Hannah family in Celina. Dale Hannah was fatally injured by a tornado. He was eighty-two years old.
News Centre 7’s After five years, Gabrielle Enright recently engaged in a conversation with his family.
Ruth Hannah stated, “He was a man of God.” He rendered service to Jesus. Ruth discussed the uncle of her spouse. Dale resided a few houses away from her and her spouse. Following the death of Dale’s wife, Ruth served as his confidant.

Ruth stated, “He was frequently expressing his desire to be with Dot and how much he missed her.”
Ruth also assumed the role of Dale’s carer, as Dale’s two daughters resided outside of the state.
“He required assistance with his medication.” To transport him to his appointments. I executed that action. Ruth declared, “I am a retired nurse.”
The Hannah family’s existence underwent a significant transformation on Memorial Day 2019. Ruth received a text message from her daughter as she was preparing for bed, informing her of tornadoes in the vicinity.
When the tornado struck Celina, News Centre 7 was monitoring it.
Ruth stated, “I stood up, and it was not long before I heard the tornado approaching. It was akin to the sound of a goods train, with a deep rumble.”
Ruth and her husband sought refuge in their cellar during the tornado. Ruth stated, “Our residence sustained substantial damage; however, it was not destroyed.”
The home of Dale was directly struck. “He was asleep in his bed.” Ruth stated, “I doubt he heard anything, as he had his hearing aids removed.”
Dale was fatally struck by a vehicle while he was sleeping. “The tornado seized it and hurled it into his bedroom and residence. Ruth stated, “It occurred immediately.”
She was the one who informed his two daughters. “I was obligated to make the call.” “That was difficult,” she stated. “I informed them that a tornado struck and their father did not survive.”
Missy, Dale’s Boston Terrier, miraculously survived the tempest. Ruth stated, “He stated that a dog was sitting in what would have been a living room.”
Additionally, Dales’ Bible was undamaged. “It was consistently present on the dining table,” Ruth stated that he conducted an extensive amount of Bible reading and study. “It was still on the table, where he had left it open.”
Ruth presented Enright with the Bible and the vest that Dale wore while constructing churches during his mission travels.
“He was devoted to Him.” Ruth stated, “He was aware that he would ascend to heaven upon his death.”
According to Ruth, the Hannah family was founded on faith. “A person is irreplaceable.” A human existence cannot be replaced.
However, Ruth stated that you can find solace.
“I miss him, but I am not overly depressed.” Ruth stated, “That may appear to be a negative outcome, but he ultimately achieved his desired destination.” “He had lived his life.” He was prepared to depart to be with Dot.
One of Dale’s daughters, who spoke with News Centre 7, stated that the storm that night not only took her father but also obliterated numerous family heirlooms, including a reminder of her mother, who passed away five years prior.
