Big Accusation! Alligator Near French Quarter Sparks Search by New Orleans Police

New Orleans, Louisiana: A purported sighting of an alligator close to the historic neighborhood on Tuesday caused quite a stir among locals and visitors to the French Quarter.

Following several reports of seeing the reptile close to the busy neighborhood famed for its exciting nightlife and cultural attractions, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has begun a thorough hunt to find it.

In the vicinity of Decatur Street and Esplanade Avenue, the initial sighting was recorded at approximately 10 a.m.

The alligator, which was making its sluggish but steady way toward the Mississippi River, was estimated by witnesses to be six feet long. To safely trap and transfer the animal, NOPD officers acted swiftly upon their arrival on the scene and coordinated with local wildlife authorities.
