Bond Raised to $500K for Man Accused of Child Assaults and Food Contamination

Missouri’s Kansas City — On Thursday, a judge in Johnson County raised the bond for a man who is accused of committing assaults on children and contaminating food at the Hereford House restaurant in Leawood. The amount was upped to $500,000 by the judge.

In the course of a hearing that took place in the afternoon at the Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe, Jace Hanson, who is 21 years old, had his bond increased. During the course of the judicial proceedings, Hanson’s counsel made a request that his client be freed on his own recognizance or that his bond be significantly reduced.

In addition, the motion that was submitted by Hanson’s counsel requested that Hanson be granted permission to relocate back to Wyoming and reside with his mother.

In addition to this, Hanson consented to check himself into a mental health facility in Wyoming.

In connection with the charges of food adulteration, his bond was initially set at $100,000; however, Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan issued an order that boosted the bond by a factor of five.

A total of ten counts of felony sexual exploitation of a kid, twenty-two counts of felony food contamination, and one count of felony criminal damage to the restaurant are the charges that have been brought against Hanson at this time.

According to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, the sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with the Hereford House food poisoning was not included in the charges that were brought against the defendant.

There will be another hearing for Hanson on July 10 at 1:15 p.m., according to the schedule.
