The Chicago Police Department advises victims to “remain calm” and make note of “any unique physical characteristics” in case they are approached by an attacker. They also advise victims to “always be aware of your surroundings.”
Instead of pursuing fugitive suspects, the public is asked to give the police comprehensive information.
It is important to “save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives” for anyone who may have video surveillance footage of the incidents.
Additionally, if someone approaches witnesses looking for information about the robbery, they should feel free to give their contact information. In addition to emphasizing the need to “remain on the scene” until police arrive, the authorities stress the significance of calling 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
