Representatives: 14-year-old arrested for assaulting, raping 91-year-old lady in Central Florida.
Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) – A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Monday after reportedly breaking into a 91-year-old Florida woman’s house and sexually assaulting her last week, according to authorities.
The incident in Reddick happened about midnight on June 9, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. According to deputies, the mom woke up to find the youngster inside her home.
According to detectives, the child entered the house through an unlocked door.
He is accused of punching and groping her.
“She was beaten and sexually battered in a brutal act of violence,” Sheriff Billy Woods stated.
According to the source, she fought back and pleaded for him to stop, and he ultimately did.
Florida authorities are looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a 91-year-old lady.
According to NBC station WESH, the kid appeared in court in Ocala on Tuesday and was informed that he would be detained.
“I told everyone last week that we would find the person responsible, and we have,” Woods stated in a statement. “This type of unimaginable violence is still shocking to me after all of my years in law enforcement.”
The woman’s neighbor informed detectives that they had footage of the teen around the time of the attack. While the neighbor was speaking with detectives, they noticed the 14-year-old riding his bike in the same clothes he seemed to be wearing when he was recorded on film, WESH said.
According to the sheriff’s office, DNA evidence and rape kit findings helped identify the culprit.
“It’s a time-consuming and rigorous procedure, but many organizations lack the necessary resources. A large portion of their DNA is sent out, and the findings take a long time.
We do not want that. Lieutenant Paul Bloom stated, “We don’t want to spend time with this person out there who could potentially attack another victim.”
During an interview, the youngster acknowledged entering the woman’s house and hitting and sexually abusing her, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Throughout this ordeal, the Reddick community has demonstrated fortitude and support for us and their own community.
I would also want to thank all of the individuals who provided information and leads in this case. It was shocking that someone would do such an atrocity against a 91-year-old, but it is more troubling given the arrestee’s youthful age,” Sheriff Woods noted.
“Although I believe he should be held accountable for his crime, as a father, my heart goes out to his family.” Hopefully, his arrest will lead to his receiving assistance, preventing him from engaging in similar behavior in the future.”
The 14-year-old, who is not being named owing to his age and because he has not yet been prosecuted as an adult, lives in the region and “frequently talks to the woman,” according to reports. He had also visited the woman’s house earlier that day.
The youngster has been charged with both sexual battery and burglary. His next court hearing is scheduled for July 3.
