Queens Woman Bravely Detains Accused Child Rapist in Dramatic Citizen’s Arrest

A 23-year-old woman from Queens, New York, showcased remarkable bravery when she apprehended an accused child rapist in a dramatic citizen’s arrest.
Angela Sauretti recognized Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, an Ecuadorean immigrant, from an NYPD wanted poster. He was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in a local park.
On Tuesday, while outside the 108th Street Grocery Deli with a friend, Sauretti spotted Inga-Landi. The grocery store is just a few blocks away from the park where the alleged assault occurred.
Recalling the moment, Sauretti said, “I’m like, ‘Yo, that’s him?’ [The friend] said, ‘Yes, that’s him.’ That’s what confirmed it. And everything just spiraled from there.”
Acting swiftly, Sauretti grabbed Inga-Landi and put him in a headlock as he tried to flee.
During the confrontation, she reportedly told him, “You did that to a woman, and a woman got back and did this to you.” Inga-Landi’s pleas for an explanation were met with a firm response: “There’s nothing to explain. You’re a rapist.”
The situation quickly escalated as at least 10 other people joined in to detain Inga-Landi. They assisted Sauretti by tying his legs with a belt and physically restraining him.
Isabel Caizado, another woman involved, kicked and hit Inga-Landi with a shoe. Jeffrey Flores, a local resident, described the scene: “After that, I ain’t gonna lie, everybody just started beating on him.”
Sauretti then called 911, and when the police arrived, she was heard on tape yelling, “He’s the rapist! He doesn’t care. … He’s right there! We beat his ass!”
Inga-Landi, desperate for help, repeatedly called out, but Flores recalled telling him to shut up, echoing the cries of his alleged victims.
Inga-Landi attempted to evade the crowd by hiding underneath a car, but the NYPD soon arrived and dragged him out.
The 25-year-old suspect appeared in court on Wednesday, facing a slew of charges including rape, sex abuse, robbery, menacing, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of a weapon. If convicted, he could face 25 years to life in prison.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz expressed gratitude towards the community for their assistance in capturing Inga-Landi.
“I am thankful that the community responded. We got the arrest within a day or two. I want to thank the NYPD. They got the word and the picture out. They got a very detailed description of the tattoo,” Katz stated.
According to the source, Katz also commended the bravery of the 13-year-old children who provided crucial identification details, which played a significant role in the swift capture of Inga-Landi.
“It is amazing then from what they went through, their identification, their you know, their memory of the tattoo, the braces, all which was right on point, which is a remarkable thing for two 13-year-olds to remember,” she added.
Katz highlighted the importance of community involvement and the successful manhunt that followed the children’s descriptions.
Inga-Landi’s arraignment marked a significant step in the case, with Katz thanking individuals who made phone calls, provided tips, and ensured that Inga-Landi was found in a timely manner.
