Wife Fatally Shot in Head, Mother-in-law Wounded: Shelby County Tragedy Unfolds

After being accused of shooting and killing his wife and mother-in-law, a man from Shelby County has been taken into custody.

At around 8:40 p.m., the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a shooting that had taken place in the Cropper neighborhood. When the officers arrived, they discovered Michael Hunt, 32 years old, from Shelbyville, Pennsylvania, hiding in the backyard of a nearby residence.

Hunt is said to have reported to the police that someone had been shot in the vicinity of the Baptist Church, as stated in the arrest citation.

Deputy sheriffs spoke with Hunt once more after they had finished searching for a victim. Hunt then stated that the victims were located at a residence on Pleasantville Road. A woman was discovered dead on the first level of the house, and another woman was discovered shot on the second floor, according to the citation. Both women were located there when the deputies walked inside the house. Despite being in severe condition, she was transported to the hospital, where she ultimately passed away.

Emily Hunt, his wife, was the victim, and Heather Simmons, his mother-in-law, was the victim, according to the police. Emily Hunt was 33 years old. His arrest resulted in the filing of charges against him, including one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

In the arrest citation, Hunt was quoted as saying that he “had a job to take both females out” and that he acknowledged shooting both of the women in the head on multiple occasions WKYT reported.

This individual is being held at the Shelby County Detention Center at present. Tuesday is the day when Hunt is due to make an appearance in court.
