‘A community for dog lovers’: Barkside dog park and bar expanding to Southfield

FOX 2, Southfield, Mich.A that debuted in 2023 is growing to

Barkiside intends to open a second facility close to Greenfield on 11 Mile.

“We’ve always had bigger plans for Barkside than just a dog park and a bar. In a news release, founders Cody Williams and David Oh stated, “It’s about creating a place where dog lovers and dogs can safely socialize, unwind, and have fun.” “Southfield s central location makes it the perfect spot to bring Barkside s unique concept and strong sense of community to even more Metro Detroit dog lovers.”

What to anticipate:

Similar to the Detroit facility, Southfield Barkside will feature both indoor and outdoor areas where dogs may play while their owners unwind in a setting with WiFi, TVs, and refreshments.

According to Barkside, the 7,000-square-foot outdoor space will have a section reserved for tiny dogs in an effort to keep the animals secure.

For the public, Barkside will provide wine, mocktails, coffee, handmade cocktails, and beer produced in Michigan. Additionally, Barkside will host a variety of events, including movie nights, trivia, puppy training classes, dog yoga, and more.

“Barkside was inspired by the love for our own dogs and the desire to create a community for dog lovers,” stated Oh. “We re excited to bring this vision to Southfield and beyond.”

Memberships at Barkside:

A membership will be required for all pups visiting Barkside in order to gain access to both venues.

“Safety is our top priority,” Williams stated. “With strictly enforced vaccination policies and dog professionals onsite monitoring the dogs, we ve created a space where dogs can thrive, and their humans can relax.”

Membership requirements:


  • All dogs must be up to date on their Rabies, DHLPP/Da2PP, and Bordetella vaccinations.

  • Dogs must be at least six months old.

  • Dogs 1 year and older must be spayed or neutered.

Membership fee per month: $40

Contains:


  • Unlimited visits per month

  • One free day pass for friends per month

  • Discounted and member-only events

  • Add second dog for $15/month

  • Cancel any time

Membership fee each year: $375

Contains:


  • Unlimited visits for the whole year

  • One free day pass for friends per month

  • Discounted and member-only events

  • Add second dog for $50/year

  • Cancel any time

Day passes cost $10 during the week. $15 on weekends. $5 for each extra dog from the same household.

This summer, Barkside Southfield, located at 15640 West Eleven Mile Road, is expected to open.
