A man convicted of 24 years in 2021 for a deadly shooting at a gas station in St. Louis
Missouri, St. Louis – In connection with the 2021 murder of a man at a BP gas station in the Greater Ville area, a St. Louis man was sentenced to 24 years in jail on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, 23-year-old Daevone Austin entered a guilty plea to charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with Moy’e Elkins’ passing. He was given a sentence of 21 years for the murder conviction and three years consecutive for the weapons crime by St. Louis Circuit Judge Madeline Connolly.

In the 3500 block of Natural Bridge Road, Elkins was shot on January 13, 2021, at the BP station, according to a news release by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office. Austin drew a revolver and shot the victim in the back of the head as they passed each other in the store.

According to the announcement, Austin confessed to the crime when he was captured and questioned by police some months later. According to the prosecution, he and the victim had a verbal fight several months prior, which resulted in the shooting.
