Actor Steve Buscemi Hit in Surprise Attack, Suspect Nabbed by NYPD

A guy has been taken into custody on suspicion of striking actor Steve Buscemi in the face earlier this month in Manhattan, according to the police. Police said the incident occurred in Manhattan.

According to the New York City Police Department, Clifton Williams, who is fifty years old, was taken into custody on Friday afternoon and charged with assault in the second degree.

There was a lack of clarity over whether Williams had an attorney to comment on his behalf on Friday night. According to the police, Buscemi, who is 66 years old and famous for his role in “Boardwalk Empire,” was sitting in the Kips Bay neighborhood on May 8 when he was approached by an unknown person who struck him in the face.

The actor was reportedly resting against a wall and texting on his phone at approximately noon when he was attacked. He was also reportedly leaning against the wall.

Bruising, swelling, and bleeding were all reported to have occurred in Buscemi’s left eye, according to the police. It was reported by Buscemi’s publicist that the actor, although in good physical condition, was “incredibly sad” about the attack that took place when he was walking through the streets of New York.

Multiple images of Williams were made public by the police on Wednesday when they designated him as a suspect in the case.

As a former firefighter with the New York City Fire Department, Buscemi was a star in the critically acclaimed HBO television drama “Boardwalk Empire.”

He was the second actor from the television show to be attacked in Manhattan during the spring of this year. In March, Michael Stuhlbarg was walking close to Central Park when he was struck in the head by a rock.

Additionally, Buscemi is well-known for his stellar performances in films such as “Fargo” and “Reservoir Dogs,” which were both released in theaters.
