Adams ‘Not Concerned’ Amid Rumors of Andrew Cuomo Entering NYC Mayor Race

DEBARYLIFE – The embattled former governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, may be interested in hiring Mayor Eric Adams, but he is “not concerned.”

When asked if he anticipated Cuomo running against him in 2025, Hizzoner told reporters he wasn’t worried.

At a news conference unconnected to the topic at hand, Adams stated, “I’m concerned with governing this amazing city, not with that.”

“You don’t climb a mountain for 35 years and then worry about the view. You take pleasure in the scenery.

As the suspected cop-kicker is released without bond, Adams commends the NYPD for their “commendable” behavior during the boisterous anti-Israeli protest.

According to insiders, Cuomo—who resigned from office in 2021 over allegations of sexual misconduct—may choose to enter the race as he pursues a political return.

Following concerns of potential arsenic poisoning at the lower Manhattan public housing complex, the former three-term Democrat attacked the Adams administration on Sunday for “two years of government incompetence” in overseeing the Jacob Riis Houses.

“You would have heard it every day if this had occurred on Park Avenue. Cuomo shared on X a video of a lecture he gave at the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights in Brooklyn, captioned “1 reality for the rich & 1 for the poor.”

Cuomo was met with backlash from Barbara Brancaccio, a spokesman for the New York City Housing Authority, who described him as a “desperate fallen leader” who was inciting “fear-mongering for political expediency” in an online statement.

Adams dismissed the notion on Monday that Cuomo had “betrayed” him in light of the former governor’s critical assessment of his administration.

“I don’t feel duped,” He told reporters, “A lot of people have their ideas; that’s simply part of living in a big city.

Rich Azzopardi, a spokesman for Cuomo, declined to comment.

Earlier in the week, he declared that the former governor would “stand up and fight for the people of NYCHA against a failed bureaucracy, and twice on Sunday.”

Cuomo has refuted the allegations of sexual misbehavior.

Adams is currently battling the migrant crisis, low approval ratings, and the prospect of a federal inquiry into the money he raised for his 2021 campaign.

In recent months, the former police officer’s approval rating dropped to 28%, the lowest of any New York City mayor in a Quinnipiac University study conducted since the organization began polling voters in 1996.

According to an American Pulse & Research poll conducted in December, in a hypothetical head-to-head Democratic primary election for City Hall 2025, 44% of respondents preferred Cuomo over Adams, who received 24% of the vote.
