The Princess of Wales then gave her young admirer a heartfelt handshake.
She began by wishing her a “Merry Christmas” before welcoming other royal admirers who presented her with bouquets of flowers.
As the royal family attended the Christmas Day church service this morning, the Princess of Wales embraced an OAP who was battling cancer.
This morning, hundreds of royal admirers flocked to Sandringham’s gates in the hopes of seeing King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family.
When Karen MacLean, a pensioner, disclosed that she was fighting cancer, the Princess of Wales gave her a hug.
“Overwhelmingly good” is how the 73-year-old from Humberston, in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, characterized the moment Kate embraced her.
Because we both had cancer, we were discussing our conditions when she stretched out and gave me a hug, she told The Sun.
“I gave her a firm squeeze in return, which was incredibly surprising and joyful. It was a very strange moment.
“I didn’t anticipate that at all. It was really, really wonderful.
Kate was informed by another woman who had previously worked with Macmillan Cancer Support: “I just wanted to say you are an inspiration to all the patients.”
“It’s amazing how many people have written this year, and I believe that cancer truly speaks to a lot of families,” she responded.
“Out there, people like you are putting in a lot of effort. I’m really appreciative.”
The King brought the family into the church while holding an umbrella and waving to onlookers. He also shook hands with Rev. Can Dr. Paul Rhys Williams.
Queen Camilla, with her beret and ivy green coat, trailed him closely.
Their children, Princes George and Louis, Princess Charlotte, who waved to the audience, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, who wore green clothing similar to those of the Queen, joined them.
