After Year-long Mystery, Missing Maine Man Found Deceased in New Hampshire

The dead body of a man who had been reported missing and who was 34 years old was recently discovered by state police after they detained a suspect in connection with his murder.

On May 14, 2023, after they had not received any communication from Alex Jackson since May 12, 2023, his family filed a missing person complaint with the Maine State Police, as stated in a press release issued by the said agency. It has been stated that members of his family described it as “atypical behavior for him.”

Jackson was carrying an empty gooseneck trailer when he was last seen in Leeds, Maine, as reported by the Windham Police Department. At approximately 4:30 p.m. on that day, his phone was apparently turned off, and his dog was discovered a few days later in North Yarmouth wearing a collar that was different from the one he had been wearing.

Some local law enforcement organizations worked together for the subsequent ten months to generate leads, and they ultimately determined that Joseph Chute, who was thirty years old, was the major suspect. The 29th of March saw him taken into custody by law enforcement, and he was subsequently lodged in the Androscoggin County Jail on a charge of murder. The judge has not released him on bond.

As reported by the Portland Press Herald, Chute’s attorney attempted to have the allegation withdrawn because authorities had not located the body of the affected individual. Chute allegedly alerted other people that he was connected with the disappearance of the victim, which pointed to him as a suspect, according to his attorney, who also told the news site that Chute was implicated.
