Alert Raised As Black Bear Spotted In Northeast DC Neighborhood
Washington, DC (DC News Now) — On Tuesday morning, neighbors saw a black bear wandering through their neighborhood in Northeast Washington, D.C.
A resident of Washington, D.C., claimed on the X platform that she observed a “furry” figure rushing around the neighborhood just before 7 a.m. when she was strolling around 14th and Newtown Streets in Brookland. She initially thought the figure was a dog.
George Washington University’s pro-Palestine camp is cleared by DC police, and protesters are arrested. As she got closer, she saw that it was a bear.
Melinda Warner, who was inside her home on Otis Street NE, reported that she spotted a bear “coming through our yard.”
Warner said, “He came over to where I’m standing and up the stairs and through the side yard.”
Before the bear left, she and her husband James were able to snap a few images of it.
“These bears are incredible.” Horner, the CEO of City-State Brewing Company, added, “And it was in our backyard.” “They are among the most fascinating animals on Earth.”
Officials provided an update on Wednesday afternoon, stating they thought they had observed the same bear near Hyattsville, Maryland, once more.
