Amazon looking to expand sports streaming empire with potential Major League Baseball and UFC broadcasts
Amazon is looking to expand its streaming business by acquiring new sports.
Jay Marine, the company’s head of sports, has stated that Amazon wants to diversify its offerings.
Marine revealed the locations Amazon is looking at for growth in an interview with CNBC.
“We looked at everything, you know, I think it s only responsible to look at everything,” stated the Marine.
“MLB has performed admirably, in my opinion. You know, they’ve really made some changes to the game to make it faster, and it seems to have worked.”
Customers in New York, Connecticut, north and central New Jersey, and northeast Pennsylvania can now purchase a compact package of New York Yankees games from Amazon.

However, just a few games from the season are included in that bundle.
During their bankruptcy, Amazon recently planned to invest nine figures in Diamond Sports Group.
Amazon would have gained access to local baseball rights as a result.
But the strategy didn’t work out, and if the firm does seek a national MLB package, it’s more likely to succeed.
Beginning with the upcoming season, Amazon will be offering a national NBA package.
Amazon has its sights set on UFC in addition to MLB.
This year marks the end of the UFC’s contract with ESPN, and it is anticipated that the fighting circuit will search for a new streaming partner for their upcoming TV agreement.
One of those partners, according to Marine, should be Amazon.
“You know what Dana and that team, I mean, that s an incredible success story,” added the Marine.
“They’ve developed that into a very lucrative franchise with a fervent following.
“I have huge respect for them over there, and if that comes to market, I think they re an exclusive window right now, we d be very interested in taking a look as I expect every broadcaster would.”

Given that WWE has signed a contract with Netflix, it wouldn’t be shocking if UFC did the same with a business like Amazon.
TKO, the parent corporation of both combat organizations, may utilize the WWE agreement as a model for a UFC agreement.
One of Amazon’s most recent additions to their already sizable sports package is NASCAR.
