Andy Reid makes major decision on Patrick Mahomes protection after benching Kansas City Chiefs starting during season
In regards to his offensive line for the playoffs, Andy Reid has made a significant choice.
With the top seed in the playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs have an additional week to decide on their roster.
Who will guard Patrick Mahomes is one of the Chiefs’ most important decisions.
The Chiefs think they have the answer for the playoffs, after dealing with unpredictability on the left side of the offensive line throughout the season.
“Listen, I thought D.J. [Humphries] did a pretty good job there,” stated Reid.
He would undoubtedly like to have a few plays returned, but he is unquestionably moving in the right direction.

We shall see. As of right now, I have not decided on that [or] which way to go.
“We ll get there by the time we get to the end of next week there.”
Despite missing several weeks of play during the season, DJ Humphries made a comeback in Week 18 to be ready for the postseason.
He might start at left tackle in the Chiefs’ divisional round game the following week.
“Well, the best part is that they both [Joe Thuney and D.J. Humphries] are good players, and [Mike] Caliendo s playing well, too, so I m not too worried about that whole situation,” said Reid.
“We’ll simply have to wait and see. [Coach of the offensive line] They’ll all get work because Andy [Heck] rotates them throughout the week, and we’ll just take it from there.
“Obviously, you want the best combination, but I think in this case, you ve got three guys there that are pretty good players.”
Joe Thuney, an offensive guard, has filled in at left tackle for the Chiefs, but he is most effective at guard.
For the second time in his career, he was recently selected to the All-Pro team.
On social media, Chiefs supporters expressed differing views about the team’s left tackle starting lineup.
“I would gladly take Thuney at LT for the playoffs so Patrick settles down in the pocket,” a fan commented.
