Angel Reese leaves mom in floods of tears with huge gift after signing WNBA contract

After giving her mother a huge gift, Angel Reese left her in tears.

After inviting her mother, Angel Webb Reese, to join her on her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, the WNBA star revealed the information to her.

For her birthday, the 22-year-old began by giving her a cake.

Then she disclosed that she had fully paid off her mother’s mortgage.

“Your mortgage has been paid today,” the Chicago Sky player remarked.

“Your mortgage is no longer a concern for you.

“And if you want to still work and keep yourself busy, you can keep yourself busy.”

Her mother was so moved by the gesture that she was unable to control her tears.

Then they threw their arms around each other.

Reese also disclosed that she intended to purchase real estate in Chicago.

Additionally, she told her mother, “You can come stay with me whenever you want to.”

Despite Reese’s prior grievances regarding her WNBA salary, the gesture was meaningful.

Reese’s rookie deal with the Sky was $73,439; this year, it will more than quadruple to $148,348.

Reese earlier stated on Instagram: “Baby, hate pays my expenses. I hope you are aware that the WNBA does not pay my bills. That probably doesn’t even cover one of my expenses.

Literally, I’m attempting to figure out how much my roommate’s rent is. I will quickly perform the math. I have no idea how much I make.

“Hey, I’m living too extravagantly! No, I pay more than that in rent. It costs eight thousand dollars. I’m spending more than I have.

Reese had a fantastic rookie season, leading the league in rebounds per game and finishing second in the Rookie of the Year competition behind Caitlin Clark.

Ironically, Reese will play Clark’s Indiana Fever in May to start her second WNBA season.

Reese had maintained that her feud with Clark was not personal. I believe that people simply assume that we despise one another. Caitlin Clarkdon and I don’t detest one another. I want everyone to be aware of that.

How the WNBA works

The regular season of the 2024 WNBA, which consists of 12 teams, runs from May 14 to September 9.

40 regular-season games are played by each team, with three games against the other four teams and four games against five teams from the same conference and two from the opposing conference.

Regardless of conference, the top eight teams in the league standings go to the playoffs.

While the semifinals and WNBA Finals are best of five, the first round of the playoffs will be a best-of-three.
