Houston – A young serial burglar who stole jewelry valued at almost half a million dollars from Houston retailers was captured on camera, and the authorities put him behind bars.

Sledgehammer and mask: In October 2023, David Yurman’s Jewelry on Northwest Freeway was broken into by a masked culprit, according to a social media post by Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

Then, over 200 pieces of jewelry worth over $380,000 were stolen when the hammer was used to destroy display cases.

At the Houston Premium Outlets on April 5, Constable Herman reported that over $170,000 worth of jewelry was stolen, prompting the need for deputies to respond to the scene.

According to Constable Herman, they were able to apprehend Majeed over a week after the Helzberg Diamond Store heist. They did this by using social media. “The majority of the stolen jewelry” was also recovered by investigators. Together with more than $11,000 in cash, authorities discovered multiple guns on Majeed.

Although acknowledging that their efforts may only be beginning, Constable Herman commended his officers for their diligence.

Posting on social media, he added, “This case involved tremendous hard work by Constable investigators, and the suspect may be tied to more crimes in and around the Hwy 290 corridor.”

Charges of theft in the first degree are brought against the 19-year-old, who was taken into the Harris County jail.
