Attorney General Lord Hermer accused of ripping up the rulebook by not revealing past earnings
Last night, the attorney general was accused of violating the code by withholding previous wages.
Since Sir Keir Starmer gave him the government’s top legal position in July, former barrister Lord Hermer KC has kept his financial affairs private.
Payments received after taking office are often disclosed by ministers, but the Attorney General’s office maintained he is not required to.
According to former law chiefs Sir Michael Ellis and Sir Robert Buckland, this is an anomalous and obvious departure from standard procedure.
Mr. Ellis stated: I believe that this is a really unusual and unusual circumstance.
These revelations were made by Sir Keir Starmer and other former barristers in Parliament.

In a letter to the Lords Standards Commissioner, Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick accused Lord Hermer of hypocrisy and demanded an investigation.
He stated: The public will naturally wonder what the attorney general is concealing because he is defying precedent.
Due to conflicts of interest related to his prior legal practice, Lord Hermer has been in the news a lot lately.
He acknowledged this week that he had recused himself from a few cases, but he did not specify which ones.
